Can this be removed?

I got a tattoo about a year ago on the crown of my head. love it, but am having worries about it because I am starting to lose my hair and soon it will not be something that is 'just for me'. 6" diameter/very colorful. Money is not a factor.

Most likely, yes. Perhaps ink is triggering an allergic reaction. If so, removal may exacerbate it. But once removed, perhaps the hair will come back. See studies on Thymuskin for hair regrowth of recent hair loss. Rebounding may help, as might biotin.

Yes, however there may be some risk of hair loss with the q-switch laser. The q-switch laser delivers energy in the epidermal layers of the skin, where the tattoo ink is placed and is not intended to penetrate into the dermis, where the hair follicles are structurally. I recommend finding someone in your area who has experience with tattoo removal and uses q-switched lasers and believe you will be able to have this tattoo safely removed.

You should have a consultation with an experienced medical office that treats tattoos and understand skin physiology. The skin where your tattoo is located is thinner and over bone. Care needs to be taken while treating this region. Estimating the cost can only be done in person. It takes multiple treatments, and they should be spaced longer than the typical 6 weeks we normally wait. You should also be aware that you may have to shave your head for the treatments.
