Laser hair removal when done correctly leads to PERMANENT hair removal. Permanent and 100% do not mean the same thing though. Laser hair removal is most effective for dark and thick hair. Thin and light colored hair does not always get removed and this is why we tell our patients that it's not 100% hair removal, but that the thick, dark hair should go away permanently.
As we age, our bodies change hormonally and this affects hair growth. Both men and women get additional body hair showing up as we get older, women mostly on the face and men on the torso (back and chest). This means that if you are a female and have had successful laser hair removal on the face at age 30, there's still a possibility that fine
light facial hair may become darker and thicker over the next 10-15 years, causing you to need the procedure again later on. It's not that laser hair removal did not work in this situation, it's that your body chemistry changed and you now have thicker, darker hair that used to be fine and light colored.
