The types of lasers most often used for laser hair removal are "Diode",
"Alexandrite" and "Nd:Yg" (Yag). These do not represent the brand of
laser - Lightsheer, Sciton or Cynosure - but rather the type of light
being used in the device. The damage caused by laser hair removal is to
the small blood vessel that feeds the hair. By heating the hair, we can
close the small blood vessel that supplies the hair with blood, thereby
causing permanent removal of the hair. This damage is by design and
does not affect anything except the hair and the blood vessel.

We use the Palomar and no, it does not cause damage to the skin, sometimes a
little redness and edema, but subsides pretty quickly. If you are
interested further, please call our office to schedule a consultation.

There are many different lasers and IPL's that are used for laser hair
removal. Results vary and are individualized. What works best for one may
not for another.
