A Q-Switch Yag laser is most ideal for successful laser tattoo removal. Some tattoo's do not remove completely and leave residual pigment.
What color is the tattoo? Blues and greens are the slowest more difficult colors to get rid of and not all laser get these colors out.
Where on your body is it located.
The further away from your heart that a tattoo is, the longer the removal process. For example a tattoo on the top of your foot will take longer to remove than a tattoo on your bicep.
When you are getting lasered are they using an injectable numbing agent? If so this very may well be the problem. These type of numbing product such as lidocaine create a fluid barrier under the skin making each treatment less effective than it should be often hampering the possibility of complete removal.
Finally the use of a prescription bleaching agent in conjunction with laser treatments will aid the process.

Beside the laser, there are other medical treatments you may consider trying:

Surgical excision is a procedure a physician perforns which involves using a scalpel to cut the tattoo from the skin, then close the wound with sutures.

Dermabrasion is a sanding like procedure which removes the upper and middle layers of skin.

Certain types of acids like TCA are also an alternatives to laser treatment.
