Does laser tattoo removal work on elderly skin?

Yes, tattoo removal works on older people too. The immune system actually removes the ink after the lasers fragment the ink into tiny particles. Our oldest patient is 75 years of age and in good health. His tattoo is almost gone. When skin is looser or bunched, we stretch it while applying the laser to get at all the ink. Every person should be screened before any tattoo removal treatments begin. There are some diseases or medications that make us require permission from the treating doctor/PCP. For instance, diabetes must be well-controlled and some medications cause photosensitivity. Treatment should be avoided if someone has a cold because why burden an immune system that is already burdened?
