Finding Out What the Tattoo Process is All About

Body art is something that has been around for thousands of years. Ancient art and mummies show different examples of body art given to people to signify their status within their respective cultures. For a period of time, body art was given a bit of a bad reputation, signifying that it was only something that criminals and other shady characters would get. However, now body art is more fashionable than ever before for people from a variety of different backgrounds.

In order to have more of an understanding as to what the tattoo process really means, it is important to understand the motivations behind those who decide to get a tattoo in the first place. Ideally, a tattoo is supposed to represent something in the life of a person that they feel really defines who they are. For example, someone who has always had an extreme love of flowers might decide to get a flower tattoo.

The tattoo process begins with the person who wants to get a tattoo thinking about where and what they want to get. Some people immediately know what it is they want to get, as well as where on their body that they would like the tattoo placed. Then, there are others who have no idea where they want their tattoo placed, as well as what kind of tattoo that they want to get. All they know is that they want a tattoo.

For those people who are indecisive, it is important to keep in mind that the placement of a tattoo will need to be given special consideration. The idea is to keep the tattoo forever, so if a person wants a tattoo on the small of their young back, will that tattoo still look as good fifty years from now? Also, another thing to keep in mind is how visible the tattoo will be. This is especially true for those people who have jobs where no visible tattoos are allowed.

The next step in the tattoo process involves finding a tattoo parlor. Most people tend to know the best tattoo parlor in their area because of word of mouth, or because they have friends who have gotten tattoos that they are really impressed with. Wherever the person chooses to go in order to have the tattoo done, the important thing is that it maintains strict cleanliness codes, and abides by the rule that a person cannot get a tattoo until he or she is eighteen years old.

After the person has found the tattoo parlor that he or she feels the most comfortable getting the tattoo at, the next step is having the artist collaborate to find the best design for the tattoo. The artist will take the ideas that the client has expressed, then trace them onto a specialized piece of paper. This paper will then be transferred onto the person's skin. The last step in the tattoo process is, of course, applying the tattoo. After the tattoo has been applied, the person will be given instruction on how to keep the area clean and out of the sun, so that the tattoo can last as long as possible!
