Are you considering a tattoo? If so, let me share a little bit about the
tattoo process. You should also know that if you decide later on that you don't like the tattoo or no longer want it, you could have it removed by
laser tattoo removal.
The first step in the tattoo process is decided what artwork or design that you'd like, what place on your body that you want the tattoo and of course the artist. When you go to a tattoo studio, you will be required by law to show a valid, picture ID and your address and phone number.
Most tattoo studios require payment before a
tattoo is started. You should discuss all costs with your tattoo artist before he or she begins so that there are no surprises. Once this is taken care of, you will be asked to sit in a tattoo chair. It can either be in private or out in the open. If you'd like privacy, be sure to ask for a private chair.
The next step is cleaning the site on your body that you want the
tattoo, and then all of the hair on that spot must be removed. The area is cleaned a second time. Your tattoo artist will have made a stencil of your artwork to place on the area that you want the tattoo. The stencil is transferred to the area using either soap and water or just a plain deodorant stick. When the paper is removed from the area, you will have a purple outline of the artwork you are having tattooed.
Next the tattoo machine is prepared. The inks are placed in small ink cups; the needles and tubes are removed from their sterile pouches and placed in the machine. Clean, distilled water is poured into a cup for cleaning the needles during the tattoo process and to change from one color to the next.
Finally, your tattoo artist will begin the painful work of applying your tattoo. The first few minutes are the most painful, but after that you kind of get used to it and it doesn't seem quite so bad. Don't hold your breath during this time because you can pass out. Take deep breaths, in through your nose and out through pursed lips. A short while later you'll have your tattoo and your tattoo artist may want to take a picture for his or her portfolio.
