When the paper is removed from the area, you will have a purple outline of the artwork you are having tattooed.
Next the tattoo machine is prepared. The inks are placed in small ink cups; the needles and tubes are removed from their sterile pouches and placed in the machine. Clean, distilled water is poured into a cup for cleaning the needles during the tattoo process and to change from one color to the next.
Finally, your tattoo artist will begin the painful work of applying your tattoo. The first few minutes are the most painful, but after that you kind of get used to it and it doesn't seem quite so bad. Don't hold your breath during this time because you can pass out. Take deep breaths, in through your nose and out through pursed lips. A short while later you'll have your tattoo and your tattoo artist may want to take a picture for his or her portfolio.
