New Tattoo Funding Scrutiny
stimulus_money_for_wrong_purpose_tattoo_blog_Feb2009.jpg

Congresses earmark bill yesterday to fund tattoo removal has caused a stir among angry GOP officials and even some economic pundits. Many are saying that rather than butting the billions of dollars, passed by the Obama administration, in this bill to our country's economic woes they are putting money in areas it is not vital.

The New York Post went on a tirade against the bill saying, "Another earmark, by Rep. Howard Berman (D-Calif.) provides $200,000 for a 'tattoo-removal violence-outreach program' in Los Angeles. The funds would buy a tattoo-removal machine to help gang members erase signs of their past."

However the benefits of this funding is that many former gang members and troubled youth can erase their past and get involved in the work force. It gives them a new life and a possible career. So there are many benefits to the tattoo removal funding. Many cities nationwide are jumping on the gang-member tattoo removal band wagon and hopefully we will see it's positive side in the near future.

Boost in Tattoo Removal
tattoo_removal_former_gang_members_tattoo_blog_Feb2009.jpg

The House of Representatives has passed a $400 billion bill to boost domestic programs in the US. Such programs include tattoo removal for former gang members. In a recent wave of stiffened tattoo laws nationwide, this brings new light into the industry and a bit more notoriety. Many cities around the nation are implementing such programs to help their troubled youth and help people who are seeking to detach from their bloody pasts.

The Associated Press reported, "Among the earmarks was one sponsored by Rep. Howard Berman, D-Calif., who secured $200,000 for a 'tattoo removal violence outreach program' in Los Angeles. Aides said the money would pay for a tattoo removal machine that could help gang members or others shed visible signs of their past, and anyone benefiting would be required to perform community service."

Hopefully this bill will shed more light onto the tattoo removal industry and how it can help stifle corruption and fight against gang-violence.

Ex-Lovers

Megan Fox has been added onto the endless list of love-birds needing tattoo removal. Stunning actress, Megan Fox, and Brian Austen Green (of 90210) have ended their engagement, which also means Fox will probably be visiting her local tattoo removal clinic to get Green's name removed from her body.

Fox is in good company. She will be joining the star-studded list of celebrity tattoo faux pas like: Angelina Jolie, Jude Law, and Johnny Depp. Ex-lover tattoo removals are one of the most common reasons why people visit a removal clinic, not only is it said to be a jinx for the relationship, but also a bit of bad taste. Next time, these celebs should opt for the "I heart Mom" tattoo.

Tattoo Removal Outreach
free_tattoo_removal_tattoo_blog_Feb09.jpg

More and more prisons and community centers around the nation are allowing former gang-members the means to remove their tattoos and completely disaffiliate and detach from their past lives. It is said by many counselors and cops that removing oneself from a gang is a difficult feat, so organizing such committees to help former troubled youth is a great program. The Liberty Tattoo Removal Progam allows past gang members to seek out laser tattoo removal for free in the Sierra Vista area.

KSBY 6 News and affiliate of NBC said, "Sierra Vista medical center donates rooms for the tattoo removals once a month. Dr. Fredrick Novy and one of his colleagues conduct the treatments by using lasers to blast the pigments, breaking up the tattoo ink. "We see about 20 patients and remove very small gang related dots to larger tattoos," Dr. Novy said. People in the tattoo removal program must be sober for at least one year and perform community service to show they are really ready to make a change."

A number of gang infested areas like Long Beach and Los Angeles, California have also been implementing such programs to help their community.

This Weeks Candidate for Tattoo Removal
finger_tattoo_tattoo_blog_Feb09.jpg

So every week we try to find the best candidate for tattoo removal. This week it is Lilly Allen with her recent body-ink on her pointer finger that says "Shhhh." Quite similar to her fellow singing counterpart Rihanna, Allen is not keeping quite about her new tattoo-clad finger. Released on her Twitter page, Allen wrote "New tatt, SHHH." We'll see if she decides to get the not-so coy tattoo removed within the near future, as many of these celebrity-induced trends lose their fashion appeal fairly quickly.

If the famous singer does opt for tattoo removal, she has can join the millions of people who are choosing to remove their body-art. Though if it is Hollywood trend, we are likely to see hundreds more get the Shhh tattoo with hopes of looking like their favorite start-studded diva.

Tattoo Laws Taking Honolulu By Storm
new_tattoo_laws_Hawaii_tattoo_blog_Feb2009.jpg

One thing is true about Hawaii, big waves and surf, but another thing will be sweeping through Honolulu like a massive wave. New tattoo laws. Police officers will be told to hide their visible tattoos or get them removed. However, this new policy would not be affecting police already on the force, it would be for new members of the squad. Police departments nationwide are being urged to follow in the footsteps of their military counterparts and become more stringent about tattoos on their employees. From New Jersey and Texas to Hawaii, many are following in the footsteps.

Honolulu Advertiser, "In an effort to distance themselves from the perceived criminal element, officers joining the Honolulu Police Department would be required to cover all visible tattoos with adjusted uniforms or body armor under a department regulation currently being discussed with the officers' union"

The organizations are hoping to put these policies in tact with hopes of removing all stigmas associated with corruption.

Tattoo Removal Laws
tatto_removal_law_tatto_blog_Feb09.jpg

Tattoo removal for inmates has been a recent phenomena, more specifically the removal of gang related tattoos as a way for former members to detach. In Indiana a new law may be passed that taxpayers will pay more for inmates about to released from prison to remove their tattoos. The reason this idea has been receiving much notoriety (both positive and negative feedback) is because many inmates are unable to get viable positions post-jail sentence because of their visible tattoos.

"People judge you by your tattoos. Even though we all say we don't do that, all of us do," said Dr. Michelle Zormeier. "And if anyone sees somebody with lots of tattoos on them, they almost want to run the other way."After the tattoo removal, ex-offenders will be more likely to get jobs, making it less likely that they'll return to prison, sponsors said." The Indy Channel News has been reporting on this new loosened law, though its bound to get huge coverage shortly.

Tattoo Removal More Affordable
affordable_tattoo_removal_tattoo_blog_Feb09.jpg

Tattoo removal has not been known for being the most cost-efficient procedure, though for many it has been a necessary cost to remove their unwanted mark of regret – tattoo. Now there are reports saying that tattoo removal procedures are becoming more affordable. The new wave of lower cost laser removal treatments is being implemented because many tattoo artists at parlors are being given the means and education to remove patrons unwanted body ink.

A British based paper the Redditch Advertiser said, "And now they have their equipment installed, they are just one of a handful of tattoo parlours in the country which can offer the service, and have decided they are going to charge a fraction of the price that clinics charge. Malcolm said: "Some people bitterly regret having a tattoo when they were younger. "Many would love nothing more than to have it removed but the price most clinics charge means a lot of normal people have to just live with their tattoos as they don't have that sort of money."

So for those people pinching pennies during the global financial crisis there is new hope for your wallet and bank accounts. You can remove your tattoo and save some money.

Tattoo Sanctions
tattoo_parlor_tatto_blog_Feb09.jpg

A city in California is debating whether or not tattoo parlors should be allowed. The temporary law if passed will not allow new tattoo parlors to open in Menifee, California, the city council will be voting this week.

The Californian said, "If approved, the moratorium would remain in effect while city leaders investigate tattoo parlors, including whether they attract crime, what parts of the city they should be allowed to open in, heath concerns associated with them, and whether they're the type of business city leaders want to allow in Menifee."

This comes in a recent wave of sanctions and moratoriums for tattoo parlors, artists and even against employees with tattoos. The first to go was tattoos for government employees, police and fire departments and now many states nationwide are taking stringent sanctions against tattoo parlors, thinking many attract gang-culture. As these restrictions have become more tight, the tattoo removal industry has boomed with more and more remorseful patients looking to remove their body ink.

Recession and Tattoos
Salt_Lake_City_tattoo_convention_tattoo_blog_Feb2009.jpg

At the 6th annual Salt Lake City international tattoo convention, many vendors promulgated their fears about the declining tattoo industry. Much like financial services, technology, healthcare, and other industries, the tattoo world is struggling to stay afloat – as people are opting against body-art to save a few hundred dollars. However, at the convention many tattoo artists said they are not too concerned about the recent trend. So does this mean the tattoo removal industry will be taking a hit? Or are people still willing to pay for removing their unwanted body-ink?

Similarly, many of the tattoo artists attending the convention were hoping to warn consumers seeking a deal with tattoos. They said that a bad tattoo can not only leave a tarnished mark, but ultimately cost you more in removal fees. So if you are looking to get a tattoo or remove one for that matter, do not go on a bargain hunt. It is worth your dime to go to a proper tattoo parlour and a licensed tattoo removal clinic.

Valentine's Day Tattoo Woes
v-day_tattoo_tattoo_blog_Feb09.jpg

This Saturday is Valentine's Day, and you know what that means: chocolate, roses and tattoos. Every V-Day tattoo parlours say they see an influx of lovebirds and couples coming in to mark their love and territory on their significant other. But don't people know the stigma about inking their partners initials onto their bodies? It's said to be doomed for despair and heartbreak. So my guess is after the wining, dining and swooning that happens every Valentine's Day, tattoo removal clinics see a flurry of heartbroken or regretful lovers hoping to remove their marks of love, nay despair.

If you are one of the many tattoo-clad lovers taking the plunge to show your love to the world, think before you get inked. Many people end up with a case of buyer's remorse and ultimately end up spending the following weeks in a removal clinic getting their symbol of love lasered off.

Economy and Tattoos
laser_removal_tattoo_blog_Feb09.jpg

Economic woes have been negatively affecting most business across the world, from a slumping plastic surgery industry to a non-existent investment banking sector, the global financial crisis (GFC) is now starting to attack the tattooing industry. Tattoo parlors are not immune from the crisis; as more people struggle to save their pennies and spend on the essentials and essentials only, tattoos are removed the budgetary spending. In fact with a dwindling job market, more people are opting to remove their tattoos as opposed to keep them, due in part to decreased chances of getting a job and the negative stigma associated with them in the white-collar workforce.

Tattoo parlors across the states have been reporting serious financial losses. People unfortunately people no longer have the expendable cash to use on body-art. If this trend persists I wonder if it will adversey impact the tattoo removal industry as well.

In Style
laser_procedures_tatto_blog_Feb09.jpg

Will the demand in tattoo removal ever dwindle like the economy? It may not, since so many people who have been laid off and are clad with body-art from their teens and early twenties are regretting their visible tattoos. Many organizations both government and private are urging potential employees to either remove their tattoos permanently or hide them completely. Even as the global climate remains volatile and uncertain people opt for removal procedures for the sole purpose of bettering their chances of getting a job.

Of all the forms of tattoo removal, laser procedures are the leaders in efficiency and costliness. Most do require a handful of sessions, however as prices plummet so too will fees for removal surgery.

Lost in Translation
wrong_meaning_tattoos_tattoo_blog_Feb2009.jpg

The misuse of language on people's tattoos is becoming quite the nuisance for body-art lovers. The numbers of people in the US with tattoos has reached tens of millions, and the number of people with botched tattoo jobs has also reached new heights. Many inked up patrons are realizing their tattoo is actually lost in translation; there is an increase in people who have their Thai, Chinese, Spanish or Japanese (among other languages) phrases misused, mixed-up or simply mistaken. Thankfully tattoos have become not-so-permanent with easier methods to remove tattoos.

For some people who thought they were getting 'love' or 'truth' written in Thai, are actually realizing the meaning of the words are completely different. Meaning tattoo removal clinics are seeing high numbers of patients wanting their words removed due to wrong meanings.

Tightening Tattoo Laws Nationwide
tattoo_laws_tighten_tattoo_blog_Feb2009.jpg

A nationwide trend to stiffen tattoo laws has now been implemented in Iowa. The Iowa Department of Public Health is hoping to increase fees and education for tattoo parlours. This new wave of restrictions seems to be a countrywide trend to reduce the number of tattoo-clad individuals in the workforce. Many police departments, fire departments, and government agencies have been urging current employees and future candidates vying for positions to either remove or hide their body art.

The new laws will be as follows, "Proposed changes include prohibiting minors from tattooing, prohibiting tattooing in residences and mandating tattoo artists to take classes on the spread of blood-borne pathogens. Also, annual fees for tattoo artists would jump from $40 to $100. The fee for shop owners would increase to $150 from $25, and inspection fees would go to $250 from $200, Stone said."

Many tattoo artists understand the new restrictions and parents are applauding these new sanctions. Because for ages, teenagers would go behind their parents back to get a tattoo then sheepishly return in dire need of removing it after a case of nasty buyers remorse. We'll see if the trend starts picking up in other states as well.

Not so Permanent
tatto_removal_tatto_blog_Feb09.jpg

Nearly 40 million Americans have tattoos, and 1 in 5 regret their decision to get one. So why not just get your tattoos removed? A viable option for many, especially those in the recent tattoo-banning workplaces like the police and fire departments. Many people worldwide are unaware and unfamiliar with the basic information about tattoo removal. So in order to educate the public I have outlined a number of key elements about tattoo removal procedures. Also, for those you just testing the waters with body ink, there is a new type of ink that makes it 3 times easier to remove, almost like an erasable tattoo.

According to CBS News, "Infinitink is the first engineered tattoo ink specifically designed to be permanent, but more easily removable than existing tattoo inks," said Freedom 2 Chief Financial Officer Blair Burnes."

Although tattoo removal, more specifically laser removal, is far less painful than the first few years it was used, this infinitink makes the removal process shorter and more cost-efficient. "...makers say it comes out 3 times faster, 3 times easier and 3 times less painful."

Best Candidate for Tattoo Removal
tattoo_removal_procedure_tattoo_blog_Feb2009.jpg

This week's worst tattoo idea and best candidate for tattoo removal is a young lad who tattooed his undying affection and love for Microsoft (his employer at the time) on his arm. In his blog Dan Woodman said about his decision, "Working at Microsoft has been the greatest experience of my life and I have no desire to forget about it. And even if I don't get back into Microsoft right away (which is, by the way, my plan!), then I have a reminder that even outside of Microsoft, I need to do my best to change the world every single day."

People should know by now getting a tattoo of a loved one, or in this case loved company, is the end to all relationships. Just look at Britney and Angelina before taking such drastic measures.

Losing their Lust
In a recent survey done by UMR a Sydney based research company, they have found that of 1,000 people 53% dislike tattoos on the opposite sex. The numbers of tattoo aficionados are decreasing, which is bad news for tattoo parlors and great news for tattoo removal clinics. This survey actually goes against the recent trend among twenty-somethings who are getting their body's inked with marks of travel, inside jokes and national pride. Likewise, some researchers have said that tattoo rates have increased significantly over the years because tattoo removal is a viable option.

Tattoo removal is not only cost-efficient it removes not only the tattoo, but the stigma of 'forever' with tattoos. More and more people get tattoos then years down the line get them removed once they are stung with a case of buyer's remorse.

Tattoo Scammers
backyard_tattoo_artist_tattoo_blog_Feb09.jpg

As backyard tattoo artists increase so do the number of people opting for removal procedures. Many find themselves tainted by their body ink, many of which were done at parties and functions at someones home. The age demographic going to parties to get some body art is 16-20, while most proper tattoo parlors tend to see older people.

"Davin Evans, of Tuckers Tattoos at Kallangur, said he saw at least two people a week who had been to backyard tattooists, while Tracey Jeynes, owner of Tattoo Modification and Removal, said 10-15 percent of her clients had been to backyard tattooists." Likewise, many backyard tattoos are disease infected with hepatitis A, B and C among other more dangerous diseases.
