Celebrity Tattoo Removal Candidate: Jodie Marsh
Jodie Marsh is a reality television star who was previously featured on the show Big Brother. She is known for doign all kinds of stunts to try to get and to remain in the public eye. The most recent of these is that she has
decided to get a tattoo.
People are already saying that she needs to consider immediate laser tattoo removal for this tattoo because the tattoo is so hideous that she shouldn't have gotten it in the first place. What is the tattoo, you might ask?
The tattoo that Jodie Marsh decided to get is a full-facial image of Michael Jackson. She got it placed on her lower arm where anyone can see it as she walks down the street unless she happens to cover it up with long sleeves.
There are numerous reasons that this tattoo is a bad idea. Most likely it was just an attention-getting stunt. Luckily with laser tattoo removal getting increasingly easy and affordable, it will be possible for Marsh to remove the tattoo down the line if she wants to do so.

Gang Tattoo Removal Documentary Stopped in Tracks
Gang tattoo removal is one of the most common types of laser tattoo removal that there is. It's also one that may be of the most importance. Removal of gang tattoos can help an individual get truly rehabilitated and leave behind the life of crime that they are trying to escape. That's why there are so many gang tattoo removal programs across the nation.
One filmmaker saw the importance of this topic and planned to do a documentary on gang tattoo removal. The documentary was going to be a film about one gang member's experience of going through gang tattoo removal. This would have provided amazing insight into the purpose and power of this type of tattoo removal.
Unfortunately, this documentary didn't pan out as planned. Before the gang member could go through the process of rehabilitation which included gang tattoo removal, he made some errors in his life and ended up back in prison. The filmmaker ended up making a completely different type of documentary unrelated to the topics of gangs or tattoo removal.
The new documentary sounds like a really moving story (you can learn about it
here) but it's sad to know that a really important film about an interesting type of laser tattoo removal failed to be made because of the circumstances surrounding the filming.

Will Laser Tattoo Removal Go Green?
There is a huge
tattoo convention being held in Denver, Colorado this weekend. There are a lot of things about this tattoo convention that people are excited about, not the least of which is that this is the first tattoo convention to support "going green".
The things that tattoo artists can do to be more eco-friendly primarily involve using more sustainable products. A lot of what you use as a tattoo artist is one-use stuff that's going to be tossed away. Some of that could be recycled. And some of it can safely be re-used.
This begs the question of whether tattoo removal specialists will also be going green in the near future. The whole world is trying to implement greener practices. Every industry is getting involved. There are green dentists and green healers out there so it would go to figure that there could also be green tattoo removal doctors.
Question of the Day: Should tattoo removal specialists look into ways to go green?photo link

Celebrity Tattoo Removal for Wedding Band Tattoos
If you follow this blog with any sort of regularity then you know that we often report on the fact that a majority of the tattoos that people seek out laser tattoo removal for are tattoos that are symbolic of a relationship that has come to its untimely end. The most significant of these tattoos is the wedding band tattoo. You can't just slip that ring off and throw at your spouse during the divorce proceedings but you can go ahead and get laser tattoo removal to get rid of.
There are quite a few celebrities who have gotten this type of tattoo and some of them have either gotten (or wished to get) laser tattoo removal when they realized the error of their ways. A
New York Times article lists the following celebrities as having wedding band tattoos of some kind:
- Levi Johnston. That's the guy who is planning to marry the controversial daughter of Republic VP hopeful Sarah Palin.
- Pamela Anderson. She had Tommy Lee's name put on to her ring finger when they married. Later she changed the "Tommy" to "Mommy".
- Hulk Hogan. He has "Linda" on his finger even though they're divorcing.
- Tea Leoni and David Duchovny.
- Kathy Griffin.
- Ashlee Simpson.
- Jenna Jameson.
- Howard Stern.
And so on and so forth.
Question of the Day: Why do people get wedding band tattoos when they so often just lead to laser tattoo removal?photo link

Gang Reduction Task Force Discusses Tattoo Removal
A
gang reduction task force has come together in Florida to do everything that it can to prevent gang activity in the area. The task force addresses both juvenile and adult gang members and has been discussing ways of both preventing gang trouble and rehabilitating offenders.
One of the methods of rehabilitation that has been discussed by this gang reduction task force is the use of laser tattoo removal to get rid of gang tattoos on those people convicted of a crime. It is believed that this type of tattoo removal makes it more likely that the offender will be able to be successfully rehabilitated.
Gang tattoo removal is an increasingly common part of the rehabilitation process for programs all across the nation. It isn't the type of tattoo removal that we hear about most often but it may be one of the best tattoo removal areas in terms of the benefit to society.

Shift in Military Rules Regarding Tattoos
There once was a time when almost everyone in certain branches of the military had some type of tattoo, usually one that represented the commitment that he or she had made to serve the country. However, rules have changed about tattoos in the military and this has caused some people to have to get laser tattoo removal after making tattoo mistakes.
Here are some of the rules about tattoos in the military according to
this report:
- Marines: No tattoos on the head or neck. No tattoos on the upper arm or legs that are visible when wearing military-regulation shorts and T-shirt. No sleeve tattoos.
- Army: No tattoos on the head or face except for permanent make-up tattoos.
- Navy: No obscene or discriminatory tattoos.
Those people who are serving in the military and who make the mistake of getting one of the tattoos that is a violation of the rules for their branch may end up needing to get laser tattoo removal to remedy their mistakes.
Question of the Day: How did it become the case that tattoos in the military went from a rite of passage to a prohibited thing?photo link

Tattoo Removal on Film
We are seeing an increasing presence of tattoo removal stories in the media as well as the depiction of tattoo removal issues as integral to the plot of various fictional performances. Several television shows (including most recently the popular Prison Break) have featured tattoo removal in the past year or so and now we're starting to see tattoo removal make its way into movies as well.
A
recent review of an Italian indie horror film called
Nympha reveals that tattoo removal is one part of the plot of this intense movie. The film is about a girl with a questionable past who ends up at a convent where she learns to serve God. Once there, it is revealed that she has a tattoo which is a sad reminder of the past that she would like to leave behind.
The author of this review notes:
"Aggressive removal of a full body of skin art might seem like a piece of cake compared to the extreme mental and physical torture Sarah undergoes, a series of four steps in which she must learn to "hear" the Lord, "see" the Lord, "touch" the Lord and "talk" with the Lord. This leads to a state of such psychological and spiritual anguish that she is susceptible to an invasion by the spirit of a young woman who lived on the same property and suffered similar abuse long before the location became a convent."
This may not be a mainstream movie and the tattoo removal may not be the point of the plot but the fact that it's an issue of the film represents the larger fact that society today is becoming increasingly aware of the positive and negative roles that are played by tattoos and the importance of tattoo removal to some of those roles.

Tattoo Removal on TV Not the Same as Reality
Recently we took a look at the fact that tattoo removal is being featured on a prominent television show -
Prison Break. The main character of this show had a huge and elaborate tattoo that was highly important to the plot of the show in its early stages. The tattoo has now become less intrinsic to the plot of the show and is being worked out of the story with the use of laser tattoo removal to get rid of the tattoo.
A recent
interview with the star of the show made a great point about tattoo removal. It noted that laser tattoo removal is a very painful process particularly for someone who would be getting a tattoo of this size removed. The interviewer noted that the fact that the character doesn't seem to be in agony is contrary to the reality of getting a tattoo removed.
The star of the show wisely replied that there is a precedent on shows like this of healing much more quickly than you normally would. For example, a character may get shot in one scene and be moving around okay shortly thereafter which isn't the case if you get shot in real life. This is just another reminder that things don't happen in real life like they do on TV and that's true for laser tattoo removal.
Question of the Day: Does it make sense that the removal of the Prison Break tattoo doesn't demonstrate a lot of tattoo removal pain?photo link

Olympics Tattoos and Tattoo Removal
There are some tattoos that are just bound to be likely to lead straight from the tattoo shop to the tattoo removal doctor's office. The tattoo of a lover's name is the leading example of this. Cartoon characters and tattoos that represent a favorite band or movie star are other ones that regularly lead to tattoo removal. But then there are those tattoos on the other end of the spectrum that have a very low likelihood of ever being removed by the person who has chosen to get them.
The tattoos that were gotten by athletes participating in the Olympics are a strong example of that kind of likely-to-be-forever tattoo. Tattoos played a prominent role in the Olympics programming this year. Many athletes chose to commemorate making it to the games with a tattoo of the Olympic rings or something equally symbolic of the experience.
The fact that the Olympics are a monumental event and probably a life-changing experience for each participant make these tattoos highly meaningful to the lives of those who chose to get them. This significantly reduces the likelihood that the people who have them will ever want to get laser tattoo removal to get them taken away.
Question of the Day: What do you think would cause an Olympian to choose to get laser tattoo removal for a tattoo representative of the Olympic experience?photo link

Celebrity Tattoo Removal: Cher
Cher is an interesting icon to learn about because of the different cutting-edge roles that she has played in society over time. The woman is in her sixties and still going strong (and looking good) so she's someone worth noticing. And she always has been.
One of the things that got Cher noticed in the past was her extensive collection of
tattoos. Long before Angelina Jolie and Megan Fox were making trends with their tattoos, Cher was turning heads with the many different tattoos that she had on her body.
Although Cher's tattoos were clearly of great significance to her at the time that she chose to get them, the years have passed and Cher doesn't have the attachment to those tattoos that she once did. Always one to be on the cutting edge, she is now reportedly undergoing celebrity tattoo removal.
It is unclear whether Cher intends to remove every single one of the tattoos that she has on her body or if instead she is just getting rid of some (or most) of them. What is clear is that she is quietly going through the process of removing the tattoos that once gained her so much attention.
Question of the Day: Which tattoos should Cher get celebrity tattoo removal for?photo link

Tattoo Artists Talk People Out of Bad Tattoos
There is an
article online right now that discusses the growth of tattoo art (and its more widespread acceptance) throughout the world in general and particularly in the country of Ireland. One of the things that is noted is that there is no regulation of tattoo artists in the country - but it's also pointed out that tattoo artists tend to feel a sense of moral obligation to give their clients a high quality of product.
This sometimes leads tattoo artists to actually recommend that potential clients not get tattoos. For example, when someone comes in and what's the name of a lover tattooed on them, the tattoo artist will typically tell the person all of the reasons that this is a bad idea.
If it is indeed true that tattoo artists are taking it upon themselves to help their clients to make good decisions about the tattoos that they do and do not get then it may be possible that tattoo artists are helping people to avoid needing to get tattoo removal down the line. Tattoo regret typically comes from a poor tattoo choice; avoiding that choice leads to avoiding tattoo removal.
Question of the Day: Are tattoo artists helping people to avoid tattoo removal by advising them against getting regrettable tattoos?photo link

Tattoo Removal on TV - Prison Break
Back in May, a
red carpet report indicated that one of television's favorite tattoos was going to be removed for the new season. The tattoo on Michael Scofield (played by Wentworth Miller) on the show Prison Break was integral to the plot of the show in the past. However, it is no longer integral to the character's plot and it was determined that he would go through tattoo removal to get rid of that part of the character's past.
Despite the fact that the announcement regarding the tattoo removal was made earlier in the year, fans of the show
seemed surprised when the show aired this week and the tattoo removal took place.
Because the tattoo was such an integral part of the character, it was necessary to work the topic of tattoo removal into the plot of the show. There was some debate about this (the fact that he got total upper body tattoo removal quickly and
without sedatives was dubious to those people who understand the complex realities of the tattoo removal process. But ultimately the actor is glad that the tattoo removal was incorporated into the plot because it means the intricate tattoo no longer has to be applied before shooting.
Question of the Day: Is it interesting that the tattoo removal was such a small part of the plot of Prison Break when the tattoo itself was so integral to the storyline?photo link

Main Reason to Get Rid of Tattoo is Because You're "Tired of It"
There are a large number of different reasons that people may give for choosing to get tattoo removal. The breakup of a relationship symbolized by the tattoo is one leading reason. Problems with finding a job or maintain a professional position over time is another main reason. But one study has found that ultimately the leading reason that people opt to get tattoos removed is just because they have gotten tired of having the tattoo on their bodies.
Tattoos are designed to be permanent. Life, however, is not permanent. The things that are important to us change over time. The things that we wish to make prominent in our lives are different when we are twenty than when we are thirty and different again when we are forty or fifty. A tattoo that represents something important to us at twenty just isn't likely to remain important for the next thirty years.
The study found that almost seventy percent of people say that the reason they are interested in getting laser tattoo removal is simply because they are tired of the tattoo. They don't like it as much anymore, don't believe it anymore or are just sick of trying to make it appropriate for different social and professional environments. Learn more
here.
