Although it's faded somewhat now, there was once a huge trend towards getting tattoos of Chinese characters that were intended to represent certain ideas. For example, a tattoo might be of the Chinese character for love or for happiness. A significant percentage of the tattooed population in America has tattoos like these even though they don't actually speak or read Chinese.
Unfortunately, it has
come to light in the recent past that many of these tattoos don't have the exact meaning that the individual who wears them thought. The Chinese language is a complex one and a symbol can mean many different things or can be translated improperly into an English word that's similar but not really the same word.
As it has been made known that these tattoos aren't necessarily what their bearers thought they were, many people with these tattoos have started to seek out laser tattoo removal. After all, you don't want a tattoo that represents something you hadn't intended. Plus that's a situation that can be just plain embarassing.
Question of the Day: Do you think people who got these tattoos and now need to get tattoo removal are getting what they deserved?photo link
