Tattoo Removal at the Request of Others

Most people get tattoo removal for highly personal reasons. After all, a tattoo typically has a special meaning to the person who bothered to get it so it goes to reason that deciding to remove it is going to take some soul searching.

However, some people get tattoos because someone in their lives has requested it (either outright or through their dismay about the tattoo). People who commonly influence others to remove tattoos include:

- Significant others. You have a tattoo of someone else's name on your body and the new spouse doesn't like it one bit.


- Parents. Young folks are often encourage by their parents to get rid of their recent tattoo "mistakes".


- Kids. Children may be embarassed by extravagant tattoos on the bodies of their parents.


- Employers. They can't tell you to get rid of the tattoo but they can sure hint that life at the office would be better if you looked "more professional".


So should you get a tattoo removed because someone else wants you to? It doesn't hurt to take their feelings about the issue into consideration but ultimately you need to think about what's going to be right for you. It's still your body after all.
