Strategic Tattoo Placement May Reduce Need For Removal
People who are willing to think through the long-term impact of having a tattoo prior to getting inked can make choices that will reduce the need for tattoo removal down the line. The most common example of this is the person who considers getting a lover's name tattooed on the body; realizing that the relationship may not be forever could make the individual to decide not to get the tattoo and therefore not to need tattoo removal when the relationship goes awry.

Another important example, and one that applies to more people who are getting tattooed today, is that choosing careful placement of the tattoo could reduce the need for tattoo removal later. A recent article pointed out that workplaces often still require that tattoos not be visible so the professional who would have to get laser tattoo removal for the tattoo on a forearm could opt to get the tattoo on the back instead, where it would never be seen by co-workers and therefore wouldn't warrant removal.

The main thing that you want to think about when choosing the spot on your body where you are getting a tattoo is who is going to be able to see that spot and in what settings. If these are appropriate over the long term then you'll reduce your interest in laser tattoo removal. Also consider the way that this part of the body may change over time and how that will impact the tattoo.

Question of the Day: Are most people capable of thinking of the long-term ramifications of tattoo placement or will we always need tattoo removal because of this issue?

Avoid Tattoo Removal By Getting a Personalized Tattoo

There is an interesting article about tattooing among members of the gay community over at the Washington Blade. It discusses tattoo trends in general and makes some observations about the trends that are specific to the gay community discussed in the article. It also makes reference to tattoo removal since that's an important thing to consider these days when getting a tattoo.

One of the things that the article mentions it that it is much less likely that you're going to dislike your tattoo down the line if you choose to get one that's very unique and personalized. If you just walk into a tattoo shop and choose an image off the wall, you're not going to always love it. If you get a tattoo that other people in your social circle get, you could eventually come to dislike it. But if you choose the tattoo yourself for personal reasons then it's a lot less likely that you're going to want to get laser tattoo removal later on.

Question of the Day: What are some other ways that you can make sure that your tattoo is going to be something that never requires you to get laser tattoo removal?

Would You Get a Crazy Tattoo for One Year?
Do you remember back when there was a guy who decided to get breast implants for a year? Most people thought that he was crazy but it gave him a whole lot of media exposure, raised him a decent amount of cash and certainly provided him with an interesting story to tell for the rest of his life.

It makes you wonder whether there are people out there who would be willing to get a really crazy tattoo for a year. After all, laser tattoo removal makes it possible to get rid of the ink later. Yes, tattoo removal is expensive and can be painful but it's certainly not any worse than getting breast implants and then having them removed.

Of course, for this to be interesting to the media it would have to be some sort of tattoo that was really out there. After all, tattoos are pretty mainstream these days. But someone could pull off the media hype with a highly offensive tattoo or one that was in a really unusual place (like the guy that just got his eyeball tattooed recently).

Question of the Day: What would be a good tattoo for the kidn of crazy stunt that would require laser tattoo removal one year later?

Tattoo Removal on BBC Entrepreneur Show
BBC American recently issued a press release announcing plans for a new television show about entrepreneurs. The premise of the show is that people come forward to pitch their brilliant business ideas to a group of self-made millionairres who judge them based on their three-minute presentation. The millionairres are going to be investing their own money in the best projects to get these businesses off of the ground.

A line-up list of the episodes of the show reveal that episode four will include a pitch for some sort of laser tattoo removal. No details are available other than the fact that this business idea is competing against ideas for a new souvenir board game and an odor-eating mat for pets. It is assumed that there will be a brilliant twist on laser tattoo removal here since it's going to be pitched in this fashion.

This is just another example of how laser tattoo removal is making it more and more into the mainstream. Read more about the upcoming show here.

Question of the Day: What will be unique and different about the laser tattoo removal business pitched on this entrepreneurial show?

Is Tattoo Removal Important in Relationships?
One of the most common reasons that people get laser tattoo removal is because they have the name of an ex tattooed on their bodies. The majority of people get this type of tattoo removal because they don't want to be reminded of the relationship that's no longer filled with love. However, some people get this laser tattoo removal at the request of a new partner.

Those people who ask their partners to remove tattoos of former flames cite the reason as being to prove a commitment to the new relationship. They feel that the presence of the old tattoo means that the individual is hanging on to the past - and to the relationships of the past. The tattoo removal is seen as a sign of respect for the new relationship.

However, not all people with name tattoos see things this way. Sometimes a person was important in other time of your life and you want to remember that fondly despite the fact that things went sour. It doesn't necessarily mean that your pining away for the person anymore. These people argue that a tattoo shouldn't cause the kind of insecurities that make a partner insist on tattoo removal.

Question of the Day: Is it good or bad to ask your partner to get tattoo removal?

Tattoo Pigments Remain in Body After Removal
A recent article about laser tattoo removal pointed out a fact about tattoo removal that many people don't realize: the inks that are removed from the surface if the skin may still remain in the body after the laser tattoo removal is complete.

The tattoo artist injects the inks deep into the skin so that the tattoo can be there permanently. That's not going to go away just because you decide that you don't want the permanency of the tattoo anymore. You can erase the external layers but there may continue to be some ink down beneath the skin where you can't see it.

Typically, this isn't considered to be a problem for people seeking laser tattoo removal. People rarely do this for health reasons; they do it because they want to get rid of the look of the tattoo on their skin. However, some are glad to hear that the new tattoo inks on the market may be easier to more permanently eradicate completely.

Question of the Day: Did you know that tattoo inks may stay in the body after laser tattoo removal has occurred?

Celebrity Tattoo Removal: Kerry Katona
Kerry Katona is an Enlgish television star who is most well-known as the pop singer from the former band Atomic Kitten. She's also known for making some serious tattoo mistakes in her life.

The most controversial thing that she's done in regards to tattoos is that she decided to get her daughter's name tattooed on to her neck. That's not particularly shocking since many parents get their kids names tattooed on them. The reason that it was controversial was because she got it done while she was pregnant with another child despite the fact that tattooing during pregnancy is strongly not recommended.

That may be the issue that had most people taking about Kerry and her tattoos but that wasn't her biggest mistake. Her biggest mistake was that all-too-common mistake of getting her significant other's name tattooed on her. The relationship took its inevitable turn for the worse and she had to get the Bryan on her bottom lasered away.

Question of the Day: Is Katona done making tattoo decisions that could lead to tattoo regret?

Do's and Don'ts of Tattoo Removal Parties
Remember when Botox parties were all the rage? They still happen now and then but most people don't bother to attend them anymore. This is due in part to the fact that people need less information about Botox now that it's a more familiar procedure and it's due in part to the fact that people have realized that it makes more sense to get a personal consultation with a doctor than to attend a group party for cosmetic procedures.

Unfortunately, there are other less common cosmetic procedures that are popping up on the party scene to take the place of Botox. One of those is laser tattoo removal. It is increasingly common to see spas and other cosmetic centers advertising a tattoo removal party or event. People interested in learning more about tattoo removal may be tempted to attend.

The truth is that it's perfectly fine to attend laser tattoo removal parties if you're going just to get information but you certainly shouldn't start any sort of treatment at the party. You should make sure that the party is given by a reputable doctor and you should leave if you feel any pressure to buy services on the spot.

Question of the Day: Are laser tattoo removal parties a good place to get information about this type of procedure?

Closer Look at Tattoo Removal Program
We often hear about tattoo removal programs that are designed to assist with the rehabilitation of criminals whose tattoos represent their lives of crime. Let's take a closer look at one of these programs in San Luis Obispo, California, to get a better understanding of how they work.

A recent report reveals the following about these types of programs:

- Funding comes from a number of sources including donations from groups and individuals.

- Tattoos are removed primarily for the purpose of making it easier to get a job despite a history of crime.

- There is no cost to the individual who is getting the tattoo removed. The doctors who do tattoo removal at these programs are typically offering their services free of charge.

- Individuals in the program are engaged in other types of rehabilitation at the same time and may be required to volunteer in ways that assist the program as a part of their community service.

This information shows that people in small communities believe that these programs work and are willing to donate money, time and services to assist with tattoo removal clinics.

Translation Problems Causes Tattoo Removal
Although it's faded somewhat now, there was once a huge trend towards getting tattoos of Chinese characters that were intended to represent certain ideas. For example, a tattoo might be of the Chinese character for love or for happiness. A significant percentage of the tattooed population in America has tattoos like these even though they don't actually speak or read Chinese.

Unfortunately, it has come to light in the recent past that many of these tattoos don't have the exact meaning that the individual who wears them thought. The Chinese language is a complex one and a symbol can mean many different things or can be translated improperly into an English word that's similar but not really the same word.

As it has been made known that these tattoos aren't necessarily what their bearers thought they were, many people with these tattoos have started to seek out laser tattoo removal. After all, you don't want a tattoo that represents something you hadn't intended. Plus that's a situation that can be just plain embarassing.

Question of the Day: Do you think people who got these tattoos and now need to get tattoo removal are getting what they deserved?

TX Takes on Tattoo Removal for Rehabilitation
One of the major reasons that people get tattoo removal is because they want to leave the ways of the past behind. In some cases, tattoo removal can actually help to change their lives. The most obvious example of this is when a former gang member opts to remove the tattoos that indicate their gang life to others. Tattoo removal of this kind can allow someone to move forward with rehabilitation that would be more difficult without the tattoo removal.

This fact has been recognized by a number of different communities where there are government-sponsored and non-profit tattoo removal programs for people seeking to leave lives of crime. A new voluntary program of this nature in Texas has just joined the list of places who are trying to use tattoo removal to help people get back on their feet after problems with the law.

The stated goal of this specific program is to assist these people in getting legitimate jobs. Many people who are involved in lives of crime struggle to get out of that way of life because they can't get a real job. There are many factors that make getting a good job difficult (such as level of education and the fact that the person even has a criminal history). Every little thing these people can do to make themselves more appealing to employers is a step in the right direction; tattoo removal is one of those things.

Question of the Day: Will tattoo removal assist former gang members in getting legitimate jobs?

Tattoo Removal On The Simpsons Back in 1989
Laser tattoo removal is something that has only gotten popular in recent years. We're still only barely starting to see it regularly featured in commercials, television shows and movies. But that doesn't mean that there weren't mentions of it here and there in pop culture's past. In fact, the very first episode of the The Simpsons that aired back in 1989 was an episode that featured laser tattoo removal.

For those people who can remember the beginning of the show, the first episode was about Bart going to get a tattoo at the mall. This was during a time when tattoos were increasingly common but couldn't necessarily be said to be mainstream just yet. In the episode, Marge is distraught that her son has decided to get this tattoo. The point of the show is about the tattoo culture but the resolution of the issue is that she makes him get laser tattoo removal to get rid of the tattoo.

Question of the Day: Is it possible that The Simpsons was the first show to air anything about laser tattoo removal on Prime Time TV?

Celebrity Tattoo Removal: Sloan
Sloan is a power pop band from Canada that formed in the early 1990's. While most bands of this genre don't survive the times, this band is still going strong with plans to release their ninth album soon. However, things are changing a bit for the band members and they just aren't quite the same people that they were when they started singing together.

Changes in life happen and that's going to be the case whether you're a celebrity or not. The band members are now raising kids and looking at life a little bit differently than when the band formed so many years ago.

In a recent interview, one of the band members said that he would not be supportive if his kid wanted to get tattoos or piercings. He went on to hint at the fact that he thought getting them himself was a mistake and suggested that tattoo removal might be in his future.

Question of the Day: Are 1990's musicians going to be the next group of people to embrace tattoo removal?

Celebrity Tattoo Removal: 50 Cent
It's always interesting to learn about celebrities that are getting tattoos. It's even more interesting to see which celebrities decide that they don't want their tattoos anymore and opt to get them removed. It goes to show that everyone makes mistakes and that there are ways to remedy them if you so choose.

One of the most recent celebrities to admit his tattoo mistakes is 50 Cent. The rapper has a whole bunch of different tattoos on his body. However, he's going to have less and less of them in the near future because he's going through tattoo removal to get a bunch of them taken off.

Rumor has it that the reason he is getting tattoo removal is because he wants to be able to secure movie roles which is difficult when your body is covered with so many identifying marks. Other members of G-Unit say that they're not getting tattoos removed, in part due to fear of the pain.

Question of the Day: Do you think it's a good idea that rapper 50 Cent is getting tattoo removal?

Tattoo Removal Candidate

There is one group of people out there who probably isn't going to consider getting tattoo removal but absolutely should. That group is the fans of celebrities who get their names, images and likenesses tattooed on to their bodies. No one should be so consumed with a Hollywood star that they need to have ink on their bodies to tell the world about it. And those who spontaneously decide to do this should start thinking about tattoo removal to erase the crazy from their bodies. But since they were inclined to get the tattoo in the first place, chances are they aren't going to take the smart route and get laser tattoo removal.

One of the most recent examples of this to be spotted is a girl who got a tattoo likeness of Rachel Ray on her shoulder blade. This was revealed recently at a cookbook signing. How is Rachel Ray really supposed to react when some fan shows that she's got the celebrity chef's face on her back? Politely, apparently, but the reality is that stars out there probably don't want to be featured in tattoos and this is an area where tattoo removal comes highly recommended.

Question of the Day: Should intense fans consider tattoo removal in cases like this to reduce the appearance of their obsession?

Tattoo Removal at the Eddies
If you're a fan of beer commercials, you're probably familiar with The Eddies. These are the awards that are given out each year to people competing to win the title of "best beer ad". There's a video commercial category, a print ad category and a whole lot of good times going on. And in this year's competition, there was the mention of tattoo removal among the winners.

The third place winner in the print ad category this year was someone named Dion Alexander who snagged $750 in cash for an ad called "Regret the Tattoo, Not the Beer".

This is just another indicator that tattoo regret and tattoo removal are starting to really make their way into mainstream marketing. We saw it happen not too long ago with the new Yellowbook ads that show someone trying to find a tattoo removal doctor. Other ads have shown a tattoo revealed accidentally in bed that hints at immediate tattoo regret. Before you know it, tattoo removal is just going to be a common place thing that everyone has had done or knows someone who has.

Question of the Day: What other ads have you seen that feature tattoo regret or tattoo removal?

Tattoo Removal at the Request of Others
Most people get tattoo removal for highly personal reasons. After all, a tattoo typically has a special meaning to the person who bothered to get it so it goes to reason that deciding to remove it is going to take some soul searching.

However, some people get tattoos because someone in their lives has requested it (either outright or through their dismay about the tattoo). People who commonly influence others to remove tattoos include:

- Significant others. You have a tattoo of someone else's name on your body and the new spouse doesn't like it one bit.

- Parents. Young folks are often encourage by their parents to get rid of their recent tattoo "mistakes".

- Kids. Children may be embarassed by extravagant tattoos on the bodies of their parents.

- Employers. They can't tell you to get rid of the tattoo but they can sure hint that life at the office would be better if you looked "more professional".

So should you get a tattoo removed because someone else wants you to? It doesn't hurt to take their feelings about the issue into consideration but ultimately you need to think about what's going to be right for you. It's still your body after all.

Question of the Day: Who in your life would be able to convince you to remove a tattoo?

Community for Tattoo Lovers and Tattoo Removal
People who love their tattoos but who have made tattoo mistakes which led them to get tattoo removal should know that they are not alone. Many people in this position feel that somewhat isolated from the hardcore tattoo community because of the fact that they have gotten tattoo removal. It makes them feel as though they are viewed by that community as someone who just dabbles in tattoos and changes their minds. However, tattoo regret is common even among people who are true tattoo fans. In fact, some people get their tattoos removed specifically so they can get more body art done!

Those people who are in this position might be interested in checking out a site called BMEink.com. It's a free site which is affiliated with the Body Modification Ezine which requires paid membership to read. The free site shows off a series of tattoo photo galleries and allows people to share their stories. A number of people on this site have been open about their experiences with laser tattoo removal. (We mentioned one here recently.) This is a great place to start forming a community of people who are in the same position as you regarding your tattoos.

Question of the Day: Is it important to be part of a community that loves tattoos but has gotten tattoo removal?
