Tattoo Removal Gets Rid of Homemade Tattoos

tattoo_pic2.jpg

When you think about tattoo removal, you probably imagine a tattoo that was professionally done but has gotten outdated. You think of a lover's name that needs to be taken off once the relationship has come to its end. You think of a cartoon character that was cute on an eighteen-year-old body but not on one that's 38. It's true that these are common cases that lead to the desire for laser tattoo removal.

However, there's another kind of tattoo that's out there and which frequently causes an interest in tattoo removal. That tattoo is the homemade tattoo. Kids who are too young to get professional tattoos may do the tattoos themselves at home. Gang members and other fringe community groups may use self-tattooing as a form of group identification. In many cases, the self-inflicted tattoo isn't of high quality, fades quickly and represents a phase of life that was temporary. These are all reasons that someone might get tattoo removal.

ABC13 recently reported on this issue as it happens in Houston, TX.. It should be noted that the laser tattoo removal specialist isn't the only one in the Houston area who can perform this kind of work. In fact, there's a Houston-based doctor listed in our own network who owns a tattoo-friendly tattoo removal shop called Th'Ink Twice.

Question of the Day: Would you be more likely to remove a tattoo that you did yourself or one that you got professionally done?

Waiting Lists Required for Tattoo Removal Programs

gang3.jpg

We have mentioned on this blog in the past that there are reasons for getting tattoo removal that aren't purely cosmetic. There are many tattoo removal programs which aim to remove gang and crime tattoos in order to assist people in rehabilitating themselves from these types of lifestyles. Many of these are non-profit tattoo removal programs that work in conjunction with probation officers and court systems to provide free or low-cost tattoo removal to people who are trying to turn their lives around.

It turns out that these programs are becoming so popular that many of them are starting to require that potential candidates be placed on waiting lists. Such is the case of one church-sponsored program that was profiled recently in the Idaho news. This speaks to the fact that tattoo removal is increasingly seen as an important part of these kinds of rehabilitative programs. As more communities start to recognize this fact, it is likely that we will see an even bigger increase in reform-focused tattoo removal programs.

Question of the Day: Do you believe that non-profit tattoo removal should be a requirement of certain probation programs?

Mainstream Public Unaware of Tattoo Removal Prevalence

mommom.jpg

There was an article in an online London newspaper last week that briefly mentioned what the author saw as an incongruence in the advertising of one business. The article reads:

"SPOTTED in the window of a beauty salon in Maidstone: balloons to remind you it's Mother's Day this Sunday, directly underneath an advertisement for tattoo removal. Just what every mother wants." (source)

The suggestion is that mothers aren't likely candidates for tattoo removal but that's not actually true at all. Many mothers got tattoos back in their younger days which they feel no longer suit the way that they see themselves. Other mothers have returned to a professional work setting where their tattoos hinder upward mobility. These women are women who may not only benefit from, but actively seek out, laser tattoo removal.

Tattoos are on people of all walks of life these days. And just as many diverse types of people might be interested in getting laser tattoo removal for one reason or another. Whether or not its appropriate to give tattoo removal as a gift to your mom really depends on her, your relationship and the situation ... not just on the fact that she's a mom with a tattoo.

Question of the Day: Do you know a mom that wants laser tattoo removal?

Tattoo Removal May Be Safer Than Tattoos

warning%252015%2520toxic.gif

We frequently hear about the major differences between getting a tattoo put on to your body and getting a tattoo removed from your body. The main things that we hear are that it's easier, cheaper and slightly less painful to get the tattoo in the first place that it is to get tattoo removal. That's why it's always recommended that you avoid tattoo regret in the first place by not getting bad tattoos. But there's also another difference between the two that places tattoo removal in a better light. That's the fact that laser tattoo removal may actually be a safer procedure than getting a tattoo put on.

The reason that this difference exists is because laser tattoo removal is regulated to a large degree. First of all, FDA approval is required for the makers of laser tattoo removal machinery. Secondly, there are some regulations in place to monitor the use of laser tattoo rmoval equipment and to make sure that consumers are getting this kind of work done from qualified tattoo removal specialists.

In contrast, there aren't so many regulations in place for the making of tattoo inks. The FDA has only recently started regulating these inks after concerns that people have been getting toxic chemicals tattooed into their body for many years. You can learn more about this issue from this Staten Island Advance article which discusses pending legislation about tattoo inks and the important issue of who should be responsible for making sure that they are safe.

Ultimately, it's always better to make wise choices and avoid regrets. That goes for not getting bad tattoos so that you can avoid tattoo removal. However it's good to know that the regulations on tattoo removal have made it a procedure which is safe for those who do get tattoos that they decide they don't want later.

Question of the Day: How safe do you think tattoos really are?

Tattoo Removal Demand Hasn't Peaked Yet

offthechart6eb2bfe5216043a69fd1a4e2eee67f0b.jpg

There is an article on tattoo removal over at the St. Louis Post-Dispatch which makes a really interesting point. That point is that tattoo removal is on the rise but that it isn't anywhere near reaching its peak yet. Although more people are starting to realize that tattoo removal is an option for them to consider, only a small percentage of those people are using laser tattoo removal to get their ink off of their bodies. That percentage is going to grow, possibly for years to come.

One dermatologist quoted in the article says that laser tattoo removal has risen considerably in the last ten years. She notes that it made up less than one percent of the office's business back then but counts for about ten percent of the business they get these days. However, another professional quoted in the article says that it's going to be another ten years before the use of tattoo removal by the average consumer really hits its peak.

There are many reasons that tattoo removal continues to be on the rise. For one thing, celebrity tattoo removal is increasingly popular wihch means that it will continue to trickle down to their fans. For another, people are just starting to realize how affordable an option this might be for them. It's not cheap but it's also not prohibitively expensive and as people start to gain awareness of that fact, tattoo removal will grow.

Not surprisingly, the reasons for tattoo removal remain the same amongst the general population even as the actual practice of tattoo removal goes up. Removing an ex-lover's name is the biggest reason that people seek out removal of their tattoos. Bad tattoos, a change in professional demeanor and just plain growing up are other common reasons that tattoo removal is desirable to the average person.

Question of the Day: When do you predict that tattoo removal rates will hit their peak?

Britney Spears and Tattoo Removal

britneySpears0.jpg

Britney Spears has been in and out of celebrity news for all of the antics that are happening in her life. However, she's looking at ways to try to get herself working again and is probably hoping to get some more positive press coverage than what she's seen in the months that are recently behind her. One of her latest projects is a plan to guest star on the television show How I Met Your Mother.

No, Britney isn't going to have to get any celebrity tattoo removal in order to make this guest appearance. The relationship between her part on the show and the issue of tattoo removal is much more straightforward than that: she'll be playing the part of a receptionist in the office of a tattoo removal doctor. It's not exactly the most stunning career move but Britney could probably use a little bit of quiet activity in her life for awhile.

The show will air on March 24th on CBS.

Question of the Day: What's your take on Britney's TV show career choice?

Celebrity Tattoo Removal Candidate: Gwyneth Paltrow

?apple_martin.jpg

It has been reported that Gwyneth Paltrow has gone ahead and made that tattoo mistake that we so often warn people not to make: she's gotten a tattoo that represents her lover. She decided that she wanted to honor Chris Martin, the father of her children and band member of Coldplay, with a tattoo on her leg.

Originally Paltrow was going to get the tattoo on her arm but she thought that might jeopardize her acting career and so opted for a more hard-to-find location. She also decided to get just a simple "C" and not Chris's whole name printed on her body. Those are two indications that she may not need to get laser tattoo removal if the relationship doesn't pan out.

However, Paltrow will always know why she got that ink on her. It may be fine right now when things are happy but that doesn't mean that she's going to want that tattoo on her forever. Tattoo artists frequently refer to the tattooed name as a curse; as soon as it's on the body, relationships come to an end. So Paltrow may have some removal to consider in the future.

Question of the Day: What could Gwyneth say the "C" is for if the relationship with Chris Martin doesn't last?

Signs That It's Time for Tattoo Removal

girls-with-tattoos.jpg

You've been thinking about getting tattoo removal for awhile. You've done your research into tattoo removal methods and know that laser tattoo removal is the way to go. You've taken into consideration that it's going to take multiple treatments to get your tattoo removed and that you're going to have to pay more for the removal than you did for the tattoo itself because of the time and skill involved in getting it taken off. You're almost certain that this is the right thing to do. But you aren't sure.

Here are some signs that it's time for you to get that tattoo removed:

- Major life change happened recently and is complete. The best reason to get a tattoo removed is because you've left behind the part of life that it represents. However, you shouldn't get the tattoo removed when you're still transitioning through a change. Wait until the honeymoon is over or the new job has lasted a little while before you actually get the tattoo removal.
- A new relationship has begun. This is a life change thing but it's also a point to mention on its own. A major reason for tattoo removal is that the name or symbol of an ex is on the skin and needs to be taken off to move forward with other relationships. If you've started dating someone new and are getting serious, it might be time to erase that old flame once and for all.
- You feel hatred towards that tattoo. If you really get down on yourself about the tattoo that you have for any reason at all, you might just be ready to get rid of it and be nicer to yourself.
- You've told people you're getting it done. This is a sign that you're ready to do it even if you're hesitant about getting it done.
- You have the money. If you've started saving up for tattoo removal and there's enough in the bank to pay for it in cash, you're ready to get it done.

The major sign that it's time to get tattoo removal is, of course, your gut feeling. If you've been thinking about it and you're pretty sure, ask yourself what's holding you back. If it's nothing much, stop waiting and schedule that appointment.

Question of the Day: What's stopping you from tattoo removal?

Tattoo Removal Is a Liberal Act

boejorgensons.jpg

There was an interesting point made in an article about tattoos over at the Christian Science Monitor. It posits the theory that getting a tattoo - an act which is generally considered to be rebellious - is fundamentally a conservative act. That's because tattoos are designed to be permanent which means that they effectively tell the world that you know who you are and that you're going to be this way for the rest of your life. Their potential permanence does not allow for changes in your beliefs or character; at least not if you get a tattoo that really means something to you.

This brings up the related theory that getting laser tattoo removal is a liberal act. It basically says that you know that you've changed and you're willing to move on to the next phase of your life. You're not hanging on to the ways of the past because you know that they don't work for you anymore. Sure, you get tattoo removal for yourself. But looked at in this light it becomes something of a political act.

Question of the Day: Is tattoo art and tattoo removal related to the politics of the body?

Tips for Reducing Tattoo Removal Costs

jesse1.jpg

One of the major reasons that people cite for not getting tattoo removal when they really want it is that they don't have the money. Prices of tattoo removal have gone down over the years but it can still be too much for a person on a budget to pay.

Here are some tips for lowering the cost of your tattoo removal:

- Enroll in a tattoo removal program. There are programs in place for people who are seeking tattoo removal due to gang or crime affiliation. If this is you, look in your local area for government or non-profit tattoo removal programs.
- Negotiate with your tattoo removal doctor. Sometimes they're willing to lower the cost for you a little bit if you explain your financial situation. Alternatively, you may be able to work part-time in the office in exchange for a lower rate.
- Get a 0% interest rate credit card. You can pay for the tattoo removal on the card at no fee and pay it off in small installments before the low rate runs out.
- Ask people for tattoo removal as a gift. Sometimes others in your life want to get that tattoo off you as bad as you do and are willing to help make it happen.

If you can't find a way to lower the cost of your tattoo removal, work on saving up for the procedure. Budget your money and set aside savings so that you can pay for the work. In the end, you'll think it was worth it.

Question of the Day: How else can you reduce the cost of tattoo removal?

Tattoo Removal Is Based on Location Not Image

tattooshirt.jpg

Think for a minute about the reasons that you might want to get laser tattoo removal. The reasons that are most likely to come to mind are those related to the image itself which is inked on your body. You would want to remove the name of an ex-lover who is no longer in the picture or you would want to get rid of a cartoon character that doesn't fit into your image of yourself as an adult.

However, it might not be the image itself that is going to cause you to seek out tattoo removal. A news report on tattoos that was recently published in The Daily Journal says that the inked-on image is not the biggest cause for tattoo regret but rather that it's the location of the tattoo on the body that causes the most regret.

The problem is that people often get tattoos that they think they want the whole world to see and then they regret that the tattoos are always visible. If you get a tattoo on your hands, face or neck then you're going to always have it on display. That can be problematic when trying to get a job or otherwise make a good impression on someone.

This is something to think about when getting a tattoo. If you want to reduce the likelihood that you'll need tattoo removal then you should carefully consider where you're putting that tattoo. Get it inked on somewhere that can be covered up so you can see it when you want to and hide it when you see fit.

Question of the Day: Where would you be least likely to get a tattoo because you think you might want tattoo removal if you get it there?

Doctor with Suspended License Guilty of Tattoo Removal

handcuff.gif

The Enquirer out of Cincinnati recently reported on the case of a doctor with a suspended license who was caught practicing medicine. One of the major procedures that he was found guilty of providing during the time that he was practicing without a license was tattoo removal. This serves as a reminder that you should take the time to do a basic background check on your doctors, including tattoo removal specialists, before you make an appointment to have work done.

The reason that the doctor was suspended was because he was accused of having a drug problem. It is unclear whether or not he really did have a drug problem but he refused to take a drug test that the medical board required so his guilt seems implicit. Additionally, he admitted to illegally obtaining pain medication drugs for personal use.

In addition to his own guilt, this doctor was guilty of allowing someone else to use his office to practice medical procedures without a license. Again, tattoo removal was one of the major things that they were doing. Although there were no complaints filed by dissatisfied clients, the fact that these people were doing tattoo removal without the proper licensure is of concern.

Make sure that you remain a smart consumer by carefully checking out the doctors that are doing your tattoo removal. Check our network to find a qualified doctor located in your area.

Question of the Day: Would you be upset if you found out that your tattoo removal doctor had been practicing with a suspended license?

Celebrity Tattoo Removal: Britney Spears

britney-spears-tatoo.jpg

Last week we reported on the fact that Britney Spears was making a television appearance in which she plays a receptionist working in the office of a tattoo removal doctor. It turns out that Britney might be able to empathize with the patients coming into this television doctor's office because she has reportedly had laser tattoo removal of her own.

SAWF News reports that Britney got tattoos about four years ago on the back of her neck. They were Hebrew letters that represented a few different sayings. They also report that those letters have now been erased after Britney paid approximately $2000 for celebrity tattoo removal.

There has been some speculation as to why Britney opted to get the tattoos removed. Some say that she's trying to clean up her image after all of the problems that she's had with the press in recent months. Others say that she feels like the tattoos are representative of a time when she was in control of her life and she doesn't feel that way anymore so she doesn't feel right having them. Another suggestion is that she just had plain old tattoo regret. The real reason is probably something only Britney is ever going to know.

Question of the Day: Why do you think that Britney Spears decided to get celebrity tattoo removal?

Celebrity Tattoo Removal: Charles Godfrey

wt.jpg

People who follow the sport of football might be familiar with Charles Godfrey. He's a college senior who is currently a top pick for the professional football draft. There are a few different teams interested in having him join their ranks.

Godfrey's first choice is to be drafted by the Texans. It wouldn't be hard to figure this out if you saw him since he went ahead and got a nice Texans tattoo on his hand for all of the world to see. That's fine and dandy but it might not be the Texans that Godfrey ends up playing for.

It is believed that the Patriots are going to draft Godfrey to play on their team. That's good news for Godfrey since they're willing to give him a decent-sized check for joining up with them. However, they aren't likely to be too keen on having another team's logo tattooed on one of their players.

There's a good chance that if Godfrey gets drafted by The Patriots, he's going to have to start thinking seriously about getting some laser tattoo removal. Or he's going to have to learn to defend himself against a whole lot of verbal attacks.

Question of the Day: Do you think Godfrey should get tattoo removal now or wait for the results of the draft?

Britney's Tattoo Removal Role Went Well

britney%20mother.bmp

Last month we reported that Britney Spears would be trying to make a comeback in the entertainment world via a guest appearance role on television. She was to play the part of a receptionist at a tattoo removal doctor's office on the television show How I Met Your Mother.

The show aired last night and was well-received among fans of Britney who have hoped that she could return to a more positive place in the limelight. The people she worked with on the set all said that Britney was a great person to work with and that she did well in the role.

Britney's appearance on the show was intended to be a one-shot guest star role. However, the plot of the episode made it so that there is the potential she could return to the set one day if all parties agree.

In addition to the fact that this episode helped bring Britney back to a more positive place in the entertainment world, it also aided in bringing tattoo removal issues to the mainstream. Britney herself was recently reported to have gotten celebrity tattoo removal.

Non-Profit Tattoo Removal Struggles in Recession

recession.jpg

There are many tattoo removal programs available around the nation for people who need assistance with getting their tattoos removed. In most cases, these programs are for young adults who are seeking tattoo removal for tattoos affiliated with gangs and other lives of crime. The tattoo removal is a part of the rehabilitation for the young adult and serves to give them a leg up in areas of life such as getting a job.

Unfortunately, these tattoo removal programs are facing difficulties with maintaining their services in the face of economic downturn. For example, the Hayward Youth Center is struggling to keep itself in operation after several problems have caused a financial crunch there. One of the problems was a gas leak at the center that disrupted a number of the center's programs including their tattoo removal program.

As financial difficulties worsen for non-profit organization, tattoo removal services could see a rapid decline. In the midst of the need for more immediate services, such as drug rehabilitation, there just may be no room in the budget for services such as this which provide long-term solutions for young adults.

Question of the Day: What should be done about the cutting of tattoo removal programs from non-profit budgets?

Tattoo Removal Could Make it Easier to get a Job on Broadway

gypsy.jpg

Many people are interested in the tattoos worn by celebrities. Angelina Jolie and Megan Fox have practically made a career out of showing off their tattoos on the red carpet. However, most celebrities with tattoos have a lot of trouble in the make-up room trying to cover up that art so it doesn't show on the screen. The situation is even worse for people who perform on Broadway. After all, you can always airbrush out the small smudges on a Hollywood star. Broadway celebrities are being looked at straight on and the make-up coverage doesn't always do enough to get rid of the ink.

That's what has been noticed by Laura Benanti who is playing Gypsy Rose Lee in the new Broadway musical Gypsy. Benanti has a tattoo on her lower back of a butterfly. Considering that Gypsy was a stripper, she's got to bare that back as part of her act. And that means that she needs to spend a lot of time with an expert make-up artist to try and erase any sign that a tattoo is on her body.

People who are interested in performing in live theater, whether on Broadway or off, might want to think twice about getting a tattoo. And they might want to consider tattoo removal if they've already got some body art. In a profession where you have to show off your body - and that body has to fit a certain role - there might not be as much room for self-expression as the actor would like to believe.

Question of the Day: Do you think tattoo removal is a good idea for someone interested in pursuing a Broadway career?

Celebrity Tattoo Mistake: Carmen Electra

Carmen%2520Electra6.jpg

Carmen Electra has gone ahead and committed the mistake that is probably the number one cause of ">celebrity tattoo removal. She has gone ahead and gotten a tattoo representative of her current romantic relationship with KORN guitarist Rob Patterson.

According to HHE, there are several reasons to think that Carmen Electra may ultimately end up wanting to get tattoo removal for this act. These reasons include.

- She's only been with the guy for about a month.
- She's been married to two other celebrities in the past so she doesn't have a history suggesting lifelong commitment is going to be a reality.
- Both halves of the couple were major partiers in the recent past. They've settled down into hanging out at home together but that could potentially be a short-lived affair. One or the other may want to get back out and back to the party scene.
- The tattoo, an R behind her ear, is obviously representative specifically of the relationship and so there will be good cause to remove it if the relationship goes sour.

More power to Carmen Electra if she can manage to make this relationship work. But there are definitely some reasons to think that tattoo removal might be the end result of this recent infatuation-based move.

Question of the Day: Do you think Carmen Electra is going to want laser tattoo removal?

Tulare County, California Launches Gang Tattoo Removal Program

gangtattooremoval.jpg

One of the most popular types of tattoo removal programs available right now is the use of laser tattoo removal to assist former gang members in escaping their lives of crime. One of the things that happens is that gang members have good intentions to get back to a straight and narrow path but then others see their tattoos and drag them back into their old ways. By getting tattoo removal, these gang members are able to make a cleaner break from their crime-ridden lives. As a result of this, many cities and counties across the nation have begun to implement tattoo removal for gang tattoos as part of their anti-crime and rehabilitation measures.

One such county that recently instituted such a program is Tulare County in California. Located just short of Fresno in central California, this area has been riddled with crime and wants to bring the problem to a close. It has set up a series of different solutions to prevent further crime. In addition to tattoo removal, they hae instituted injunctions against specific gangs and are specifically working to reduce gang-related car theft in the area. They say that the gang tattoo removal program is intended to assist former gang members in "breaking their old connections".
