Last week, celebrity musician (and diva of sorts) Prince heightened his campaign against material about him that is available on the Internet. He has a recent history of suing sites (such as YouTube) for linking to material that is related to him. The most recent change in his approach is that he is now suing his fans' sites.

For example, one site has fans that are showing off images of their tattoos that were inspired by Prince. Prince wants those pictures removed from the Internet. Of course, this legal battle of his isn't too likely to go anywhere. The art on those individual's bodies isn't his; it's theirs. They have the rights to those images and can post them if they'd like. But stranger things have been known to happen in court cases.

The next thing you know, celebrities will be asking for tattoo removal from all of their fans who were inspired by their own body art. It seems strange to alienate your fans who are simply trying to support your work. You have to be pretty devoted to an artist to get tattoos inspired by them. (Sounds like a situation that leads to a lot of tattoo removal!) But he must have his own motivations.
