The Ventura County Star recently reported on an issue that is important in the tattoo community – the lingering stigma about tattoos. As the article points out, tattoos are increasingly common even in professional settings. However, that doesn't mean that jobs are happy with the fact that employees have tattoos. Obviously they can't fire you for getting one while you're employed with them but seeing them at a job interview can deter a person from getting hired. There are just certain settings where the appearance of the professional matters and many people still think that tattoos aren't something that goes along with a professional appearance.

So, what do you think? Would you go through laser tattoo removal in order to be able to get a job? What if it was your dream job and the only way to get it was to get rid of the ink? Tattoo removal can be painful and it's more expensive than getting the tattoo was, but would the cost be worth the benefits of a higher-paying job? It's my personal opinion that if a career place isn't going to hire me because of the tattoos that I've chosen to get, then it's not a place that I'm going to want to work. But many people find that they don't have a problem erasing the ink of the past in order to move forward in to their futures.
